Grilled Cauliflower
Grilled cauliflower or Grilled Gobi – was something i never knew about until my hubby wanted me to give a try. Grilled cauliflower is a cousin of Gobi 65 which is deep fried in oil, unlike grilled cauliflower which consumes very little oil. It also has the char spots like tandoori which makes it more tempting to grab one.
Cauliflower is in season now , and we get fresh and white cauliflowers in the market. So wanted to try something with it, other than gobi 65 or this cauliflower gravy.. So tried this grilled cauliflower , with very less oil yet spicy and crunchy
Ingredients for making grilled cauliflower:
- Curd/Yoghurt – 1/2 cup
- Gram flour – 2 tbsp
- Rice flour – 1 tbsp
- Corn flour – 1 tbsp
- Ginger – 1 inch piece
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Salt – as per taste
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Kashmiri Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Tandoori Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
- Cauliflower – 1 big
- Oil – 2 teaspoons ( to brush on top )
Method:
1. In a wide bowl, mix together all the ingredients except oil and cauliflower.
2. Mix well to a smooth paste, add little water if the batter becomes too thick.
3. Add the cleaned cauliflower florets and give a quick mix.
4. Let it rest in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
5. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Arrange the cauliflower florets on grill sticks and then arrange on a baking tray lined with baking sheet.
6. Grill in the oven for 30 minutes , flipping over after every 10 minutes , so that it does not get burnt on any side, unlike mine 😀 .
Spicy grilled cauliflower is ready to be enjoyed!!
Notes:
- Resting the marinated cauliflower for atleast 2 hours is very important. The more the better. Leaving it overnight in the fridge would be the best!
- Adjust the spiciness according to your taste buds. This recipe was quite spicy.
