Mutton biriyani is always extra special than chicken biriyani , because of the flavor and taste mutton lends to the biriyani. The mutton cooked with all the spices, and the ginger garlic paste and the aroma of basmati rice makes our mouth watering even before the biriyani gets ready.  I always like the meat to be cooked very soft, so I pressure cook for 5 or 6 whistles. Then I add the basmati rice to it, which gets cooked quickly. Spicy mutton thokku – no tomato recipe

Spicy Mutton thokku is a delicious yet simple recipe with just basic ingredients, absolute accompaniment to go with piping hot rice, biriyani or a simple comforting rasam . Do give it a try and let me know your comments. Ingredients for Spicy Mutton thokku: Mutton – 1/2 kg Onion – 2 , finely chopped Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp Chilly powder – 1 tsp Coriander powder – 1 tsp Garam Masala powder – 1 tsp Fennel seeds – 1 tsp Cinnamon – 2 inch piece Cloves – 5 Bay leaves – 2 Pepper – 2 tsp salt – as per taste oil – 4 tsp Heat oil, add fennel seeds, bay leaves, cloves and cinnamon. Once the flavor arises, add chopped onion with salt, let the onions become soft. Then add in ginger garlic paste, saute till the oil separates out. Now, add the well chopped mutton and saute well. Add the spice powders and 3 cups water, let it cook till all the water evaporates. Add crushed pepper powder. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
